Planning for Community and Economic Development

Pennsylvania has a wide array of organizations and programs designed to increase jobs and revitalize existing communities. Leading examples are outlined below. Note that there is usually no application deadline for these programs. However, it is necessary to contact the resources listed to understand program details and application requirements. It is important to remember, however, that community and economic development does not occur on its own. Municipal planning efforts should be coordinated with those of neighboring communities, and with regional planning efforts. Mon Valley development efforts also require the support of smart regional land use planning and transportation investments in order to be effective, successful and sustainable.
